Role Overview:
Reporting to the Deputy CFO, the Head of Finance is responsible for developing and managing the financial strategy for this leading defence initiative, ensuring alignment with program objectives. This role involves integrating the finance strategy across the program, collaborating with ASC’s build partner to define the financial approach for establishing new business, and delivering long-term, effective, and sustainable financial solutions to support the success of this strategic defence program.
Responsibilities:
Your role will be varied and evolving but core responsibilities include:
- Contributing to program activities including developing long term financial strategy and corporate plans
- Building strong relationships with program build partners that support ASC’s financial objectives
- Preparing and conducting financial planning analysis, managing financial transactions & providing financial decision support
- Identifying, assessing and mitigating financial risks
- Aligning activities with ASC’s Strategy and assisting ASC to meet any relevant contractual deliverables
- Working with the Finance leadership team, the position is required to maintain a strategic perspective of the entire business and consider a wide range of longer-term issues, opportunities and risks to ensure ongoing business success
- The Head of Finance provides leadership to Programs finance team ensuring team members are provided with direction and attainable yet challenging performance targets.
- Key dependencies of this role include the provision of allocated budget.
Candidate Profile:
- You’ll be a highly experienced finance leader with over 10 years in a senior and influential role with the following skills and experience:
- Demonstrated experience in development and management of financial strategy for the establishment of new business
- Proven experience in strategic financial planning
- Strong knowledge and understanding of financial principles, including reporting, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and risk management
- Experience in building relationships with key stakeholders (internal and external) in a large complex organisation
- Experience in shipbuilding, defence or a heavy industrial industry (or similar)
- Demonstrated experience upholding high ethical standards and integrity in financial reporting and business practices
This role requires a current National Police Clearance, and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.
