Role Overview
As a direct report into a superb Financial Controller, this Senior Financial Accountant will be responsible for leading a small but efficient team to deliver all month-end requirements for a complex national business. You will look to bring efficiency, accuracy and confidence to the business when it comes to monthly reporting, systems and processes.

You will lead the preparation of month-end reporting and financial reporting for multiple business units. On a monthly basis, you will drive month-end close, complete Balance sheet reconciliations, accurate journal entries and provide analysis and commentary on your business unit’s monthly results.

Your technical accounting knowledge will ensure correct treatment according to accounting standards and compliance to SOX, as well as ensure timely and accurate delivery of all reporting alonside business partnering stakeholders as the subject matter expert for these units.

Responsibilities

• Lead and take ownership of month-end deliverables
• Key contact for queries, resolutions and sign-off.
• Lead SOX compliance
• The accurate and timely preparation and processing of general journal entries for multiple business units
• Delivery of inventory variance analysis 
• Reconciling P&L and balance sheet accounts with effective supporting documentation
• Review expense line items and ensuring they are properly accrued and coded
• Analysis and commentary on expenses and legal entity performance
• Support the business in the execution of the annual audits and external reporting obligations
• Supporting Finance team members with ad hoc projects
• Work with Finance Managers to ensure adequate and relevant financial information is available to drive sales and efficiencies
• Ensure correct coding of invoices to the general ledger and identify areas where accuracy and efficiency can be improved.

Candidate Profile
You are CPA, CA or CIMA qualified and have a passion for accuracy, detail and efficiency. You will have exposure to a complex business with a strong understanding of a large P&L and have likely worked in a high volume environment. You will ideally have exposure in an environment which is supported by multiple systems. Experience in leading a small team is highly regarded.
