Role Overview

As the Network Services Manager, you will oversee the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimisation of the organisation's network infrastructure, ensuring reliable and secure operation across all locations. Your daily responsibilities will include managing a team of network professionals, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring seamless communication and connectivity. This role involves critical oversight of the network environment, including multiple networks spanning a head office campus, data centres, offices, warehouses, and specialty locations.

In addition to your technical and managerial responsibilities, you will play a pivotal role in strategic planning, working closely with architecture teams to develop technology roadmaps and make strategic product selections. Your input will be essential in evaluating and recommending network technologies, solutions, and upgrades to enhance performance, scalability, and security.

Your leadership will be key to driving innovation within the network services team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and ensuring the organisation's network infrastructure meets current and future business needs. This role offers an opportunity to lead significant projects, such as ongoing Wi-Fi enhancements and network migrations, and to contribute to the overall success of the IT infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a standardised governance and operating model for network operations.
• Ensure network services meet business requirements for security, performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Design, plan, and implement efficient and reliable network connectivity across all locations.
• Evaluate and recommend network technologies, solutions, and upgrades.
• Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement proactive measures.
• Manage and maintain all core tools and applications supporting network operations.
• Communicate system status, service updates, and disruptions to key stakeholders.
• Support architecture teams in developing technology roadmaps and strategic decisions.
• Implement and enforce network security measures to protect data and systems.
• Coordinate incident response efforts and ensure timely resolution of security incidents.
• Maintain vendor relationships and assess performance with key service vendors.
• Mentor and develop team members, ensuring a customer-focused culture.
• Plan and manage technical projects, ensuring adherence to project management guidelines.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in network design and management, with a proven track record of leading network services teams responsible for complex systems. You will have a deep understanding of network topologies, SD-WAN, routing and switching, and related infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.

In addition to your technical expertise, you will be a strong leader with exceptional communication skills. Your ability to build productive relationships with stakeholders and vendors will be crucial to your success in this role. You will have experience in project management, with a focus on delivering large-scale, complex projects on time and within budget.

You will bring a proactive, solution-oriented approach to network management, with a passion for continuous improvement and innovation. Your ability to mentor and develop a high-performing team will be key to driving the success of the network services function. Ideally, you will have a background in the technology industry and experience with ITSM processes and cyber security measures. Your leadership will inspire confidence and drive excellence within the team, contributing to the overall success of the organisation's IT infrastructure.
