The Manager Strategic Planning and Prioritisation will report to the Head of Strategy and Execution and will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans. This includes coordinating and prioritising business initiatives to align with the organisation's strategic goals. The role involves significant interaction with internal and external stakeholders, requiring strong communication and relationship-building skills.

The key challenge and opportunity within this role is to develop and implement a coordinated plan that effectively prioritises our numerous tasks. This strategic oversight not only drives improved performance and accountability but also ensures the long-term sustainability and success of ASC in fulfilling its vision as Australia’s sovereign submarine builder and maintainer, indispensable in delivering the nation’s maritime strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain ASC’s corporate strategic plans and 5-10 year roadmap

  • Conduct strategic assessments and scenario planning to anticipate future needs and challenges
  • Facilitate cross-functional workshops to align strategic priorities and drive collaborative action
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices in strategic planning and execution

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate for this role will possess a robust background in strategic planning, particularly within complex and high-stakes environments such as defence or shipbuilding. They should have a demonstrated ability to translate broad strategic goals into actionable plans and priorities, along with a deep understanding of the operational and strategic challenges faced by large-scale organisations.

Candidates must exhibit exceptional analytical skills, with a proven track record of developing and executing strategic frameworks that drive organisational success. They should be adept at navigating complex stakeholder environments, capable of building consensus and fostering collaboration across diverse teams to achieve strategic objectives.

Strong leadership qualities and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential. The candidate should be resilient, adaptable, and able to thrive in a dynamic, evolving landscape while maintaining a clear focus on delivering long-term strategic outcomes. This role demands a visionary thinker who can effectively balance immediate priorities with the broader organisational goals and aspirations.
