Reo Group have been exclusively retained to source experienced Underwriters for their Sydney CBD based teams. Working amongst a dedicated underwriting team supported by specialist Business Development partners focused on Cyber Insurance.
Your role in this team is to underwrite incoming and renewal business with existing clients before looking to partner with new businesses. Using your skills and experience of risk assessment, knowledge of the insurance coverage process leveraging the technology, systems and previous history to underwrite profitably and begin building your portfolio of business.
The primary market focus is via broker networks providing solutions for micro-SME to mid-market clients and will require you to engage via all medians (phone, email, video and face to face) to provide innovative and tailored insurance solutions fit for purpose.
Your main focus is to capture and underwrite incoming business generated either by you growing your portfolio, through the portal or referrals from your BD focused colleagues. You will be in charge of Managing clients and brokers expectations and increasing policy count through hands on underwriting.
Responsibilities:
- Take full ownership of your portfolio/book of business and actively manage your portfolio to ensure profitability, growth, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Assess risk and underwrite incoming quotes.
- Engaging broker partners to ensure accurate risk assessment and profitable underwriting
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers
- Ensure a timely management of processing documents.
- Engage through the broker portal and using workflow tools and tech.

Candidate Profile:
- Experienced with at least 3 years in insurance underwriting, focused on commercial or specialist products - preferably business pack, for SME to mid-market clients
- Must have previous experience engaging with brokers and managing your own broker relationships that sit outside of the "big 4" brokerages.
- Sound risk assessment skills and hold a DUA to underwrite on your own.
- Have experience with online portal underwriting
- Have an interest in technology, cyber and the future of insurance!
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) - Your stakeholder engagement skills will ensure your success.
