Role Highlights: This is a rare opportunity for someone to specialise in CAPEX and become an integral part of the team and be a true business partner. You’ll have ownership and accountability and a direct relationship with key stakeholders and project managers within the business.
The organisation
Reo Group is working with a leading manufacturing business, and a major supplier to a range of disciplines and industries, including major construction projects across the public and private sectors. Their corporate office is based in Adelaide, and they also have locations across Australia.
The primary purpose of the role is to provide discipline in Capex accounting and reporting incorporating financial performance analysis through effective and compliant cost attribution, financial control and reporting covering areas including budgeting, forecasting, accruals, journals, cash flow monitoring, as well as managing payments processing and cost recovery. This role is expected to improve systems to provide transparency to project managers on a real time basis encouraging a single source of truth, providing confidence to the Project Managers.
Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain project cost control disciplines to manage budgets and forecasts for significant capital projects annually.
- Generate monthly reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) and conduct cost-to-complete assessments.
- Ensure adherence to financial policies, procedures, and internal controls, maintaining a robust financial environment aligned with Delegated Authority.
- Oversee accurate project coding in ERP systems, ensuring timely closure and comprehensive records of project cost elements.
- Lead month-end financial close processes, including invoice processing, accruals, cost transfers, and variance analysis, while advising project leads on financial risks.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key project stakeholders, providing support for overall project success.
- Communicate project information effectively across operating groups, fostering cost awareness and clarity.
- Align budgets, contracts, and work scope variations, updating changes as necessary.
- Contribute to the development of risk-assessed financial forecasts and ensure compliance with reporting deadlines and procedures.
- Manage ongoing projects with effective prioritisation in a dynamic environment.
Candidate Profile
We are seeking CA or CPA qualified Senior Accountants or Manager with experience in capital expenditure accounting, ideally within a CAPEX-heavy environment with large spend each year. Candidates from commerce should have a strong background in this area. Applicants from Big 4 seeking their first move will also be considered. We welcome applications from established leaders as well as those with aspirations for leadership. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with senior stakeholders are critical for success in this position.
