The Management Accountant is responsible for the preparation of high-quality and timely management reports to internal stakeholders. Under guidance from the Financial Planning & Reporting Manager, they will analyse results and prepare reports to monitor current financial performance, forecast and budget future performance, identify trends and provide explanations for any variances.

Responsibilities

• Develop a strong understanding of all areas of the organisation and build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Prepare monthly financial reports for allocated projects and business areas, providing insights to support financial management and decision-making
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including the preparation of grant acquittal statements
• Support the Financial Planning & Analysis Manager in delivering the annual budget and forecast updates
• Assist in developing budget and forecast templates for the wider team
• Engage with project and business leaders to prepare project-level budgets and forecasts
• Identify financial and non-financial trends to inform future planning
• Ensure budgets and forecasts align with organisational guidelines and strategic objectives
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial efficiency and reporting
• Support the review and development of internal financial policies and procedures
• Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and support to the finance team as required

Candidate Profile

This is an ideal role for a first mover from an accounting firm, or an experienced accountant from commerce & Industry. You’ll be CA or CPA qualified or working towards this. You’ll have an analytical mind and will enjoy learning about an organisation. Your curious nature will mean that you build internal relationships and have a natural consultative approach. It is not essential that you have been a Management Accountant before. We will consider business services, audit or a Financial Accountant.
