Job Description

Location: Mount Waverley

Role Highlights: Career-defining opportunity to join a reputable, ASX Listed business. Report directly to the Head of Shared Services. This is a high-impact role with the ability to influence critical business decisions.

Role Overview

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Fleet Manager to lead the end-to-end management of a large national fleet. Based in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs, this role is responsible for ensuring the efficiency, compliance, and optimisation of all fleet-related processes across a complex, multi-business-unit organisation. The Group Fleet Manager will drive continuous improvement, standardisation, and cost-effective outcomes while delivering high levels of internal customer service. This role also oversees fleet administration, vendor relationships, and reporting, playing a key part in shaping the future direction of the fleet function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of a national fleet of ~1,700 vehicles, including acquisitions, servicing, insurance, and disposals.
  • Lead fleet strategy and optimisation initiatives, including lease vs owned decisions, standardised vehicle types, and cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Lead and deliver fleet transformation initiatives, including system improvements, process standardisation, and change management programs to drive operational efficiency and long-term cost savings.
  • Develop and roll out consistent fleet policies, procedures, and training across all business units.
  • Ensure the accuracy and efficiency of fleet management systems, data, and reporting.
  • Monitor driver behaviour, vehicle utilisation, and fuel usage through regular reporting and analysis.
  • Drive compliance with safety, environmental, and legislative requirements.
  • Oversee the relationship with external fleet providers, including leasing companies and fuel card partners.
  • Manage audits, reconciliations, and the accuracy of the fleet asset register.
  • Provide internal stakeholders with expert guidance and support on all fleet-related matters.
  • Identify and implement technology to support driver behaviour monitoring, cost efficiency, and incident management.
  • Mentor and support the Fleet Administrator, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Candidate Profile

You are a commercially astute Fleet professional with at least four years’ experience managing large, complex vehicle fleets. You bring a strong analytical mindset, operational discipline, and a proven ability to drive change—whether through cost-saving initiatives, transitioning from ownership to leasing, or improving compliance. Passionate and self-motivated, you thrive in challenging environments and are energised by the opportunity to build what "good" looks like. Ideally, you’ve worked with both leased and owned fleet models and have experience introducing cost-saving strategies, managing vendor contracts, and driving compliance around safety, fuel usage, and vehicle utilisation. You work well within a strong, collaborative team dynamic and have the stakeholder engagement skills to influence across all levels of the business. Your ability to lead change, deliver results, and maintain service excellence is what sets you apart.
