Location: Brisbane, QLD (be based at any of the 6 metro sites)
Salary Range: $145k - $150k + Super + Bonus 
Role Highlights: This is a senior, operational safety role for someone who has done the work themselves. You will be the dedicated Safety Manager for Queensland, owning safety across six warehousing and cold storage sites, with strong national support but no team on the ground

Role Overview

I’ve partnered with a global cold storage and logistics business that has grown significantly across Australia.
The Queensland safety function is currently being shared across the national safety team and the Head of Safety, which is not sustainable.
They need a senior Safety Manager on site. Someone who is comfortable engaging regulators, rolling up their sleeves, and lifting safety maturity across manufacturing and warehousing operations with high pedestrian and MHE interaction, ageing facilities, and temperature-controlled risk.
This role is about moving safety from reactive to controlled and proactive. You will assess risk, close gaps, strengthen compliance, and be the credible safety presence across all QLD sites

Responsibilities 

• Own WHS across 6 x QLD sites, including warehousing, cold storage, and manufacturing-style operations
• Act as the primary point of contact for WorkSafe and regulatory bodies
• Lead regulator engagement, audits, inspections, and follow-up actions
• Conduct detailed compliance reviews, site audits, and risk assessments
• Strengthen and embed safety systems, governance, and documentation as the business continues to mature
• Lead incident investigations, including serious incidents and regulator-notifiable events
• Manage high pedestrian traffic and MHE risk on site
• Coach site leaders to take ownership of safety outcomes
• Maintain oversight of workers compensation and RTW processes (approx. 10% of the role, with strong internal and external support)

Candidate Profile 

This role is not suited to someone early in their safety career or someone who has only worked in advisory or corporate environments.

It suits a senior safety professional who has owned safety outcomes in operational environments, dealt directly with regulators, and understands what good looks like, even when everything is not yet in place.

You will bring:

• Proven experience dealing directly with WorkSafe and regulators in QLD
• Strong working knowledge of QLD WHS legislation and compliance requirements
• Background in manufacturing, warehousing, logistics, or food environments, ideally with cold storage or temperature-controlled operations
• Experience managing high pedestrian traffic around MHE, forklifts, and fixed plant in operational environments
• Experience overseeing multi-site operations
• The ability to influence at all levels, from site teams to senior leaders
