Salary Package: AU$150,000 – $180,000 + Super + Bonus

Role Overview

The company is a Sydney-based FinTech that has built a first-of-its-kind general platform for Wealth Management distribution. Operating under its own AFSL, the business supports a growing network of advisers, aggregators and distribution partners providing access to technology, compliance infrastructure, and connections to leading Financial Services providers.

The business has scaled at a significant pace year-on-year and is now at a critical inflection point. The compliance framework that has served the business well to date needs to be enhanced, embedded and made scalable to keep pace with rapid growth. This is your opportunity to own that function outright building something that is consistent, robust and defensible to regulators while enabling the business to grow with confidence.

Responsibilities

• Design, finalise and embed a scalable compliance framework across the business and distribution network
• Own and chair the Risk & Compliance Committee, managing all governance reporting, regulatory obligations and ASIC notifications
• Oversee the onshore and offshore teams identifying patterns, managing escalations and driving improvements
• Draft and negotiate legal agreements, contracts and templates; provide internal legal guidance under the Corporations Act and relevant AFSL obligations
• Partner with the technology team to identify where manual compliance processes can be replaced with technology-driven solutions

Candidate Profile

You are a qualified compliance professional with a law or other relevant degree and direct experience operating within an AFSL environment. You bring the legal acumen, regulatory depth and practical confidence to own this function from day one and the character to thrive in a fast-moving, founder-led business.

You will:

• Hold a Legal or relevant Degree and bring deep working knowledge of the Corporations Act, ASIC regulatory frameworks and AFSL licensing obligations
• Have demonstrated experience building or materially enhancing a compliance framework not just inheriting and maintaining
• Possess familiarity with the Wealth Management industry or broader Financial Services sector
• Have experience working with distribution networks to foster a positive, enabling compliance culture
• Bring the confidence to provide commercial opportunity while holding firm on legal obligations
