Role Overview
Reporting into the Payroll Manager, this Payroll Officer will be responsible for end-to-end payroll processing across a large and diverse employee base. On a daily basis, you will manage payroll transactions, maintain employee records, and ensure data accuracy. Weekly, you will handle payroll queries, liaise with internal stakeholders, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and awards. On a monthly basis, you will assist with reporting, reconciliations, and month-end payroll processes.
This role is essential in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with all statutory requirements. You will contribute to process improvements, support system enhancements, and play a key role in maintaining efficient payroll operations within a growing organisation. Responsibilities
• Process end-to-end payroll on a weekly/fortnightly basis
• Ensure accurate calculation of wages, superannuation, and deductions
• Maintain and update employee payroll records
• Handle payroll-related queries from employees and stakeholders
• Perform payroll reconciliations and ensure data integrity
• Assist with month-end reporting and payroll compliance requirements
• Ensure adherence to relevant awards, legislation, and company policies
• Support system improvements and payroll process optimisation
• Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure seamless operations
Candidate Profile
You are a detail-oriented Payroll Officer with experience managing end-to-end payroll in a high-volume environment. Ideally, you have worked within a large or complex organisation such as engineering, construction, or a similar industry. You possess a strong understanding of payroll legislation, awards, and compliance requirements, along with experience using modern payroll systems.
You are a strong communicator with the ability to build relationships across the business and handle sensitive information with discretion. With a proactive and solutions-focused mindset, you thrive in a fast-moving environment and are confident managing deadlines and competing priorities.
