Role Overview
Reporting into the Director of Accounting, this Finance Manager takes ownership of the financial performance and reporting across a major national account operation. On a daily basis, you will provide commercial guidance and financial advice to key operational stakeholders, ensuring timely and accurate management of business performance. You will oversee performance reporting across sales, margin and operational KPIs, ensuring risks and opportunities are surfaced promptly. On a monthly basis, you will lead business reviews with senior leadership, drive month-end close processes including journals, reconciliations and variance analysis, and deliver commercial insights that directly inform strategic decision-making.
Beyond the numbers, this role is about embedding yourself as a genuine business partner. You will develop and maintain financial models to evaluate pricing strategies, business scenarios and investment opportunities, whilst driving margin improvement through rigorous cost analysis and operational efficiency assessments. You will also lead and mentor a small team of finance professionals, champion finance transformation initiatives and support strategic projects that shape the future of the business.
Responsibilities
- Deliver analytical support for business cases relating to pricing architecture and customer profitability.
- Oversee weekly and monthly performance reporting, including sales, margin and operational KPIs.
- Lead monthly business reviews, highlighting risks, opportunities and performance drivers for senior stakeholders.
- Ensure accurate and timely month-end close, including journals, reconciliations and variance analysis.
- Develop and maintain financial models to evaluate business scenarios, investment opportunities and pricing strategies.
- Drive margin improvement initiatives through cost analysis, pricing reviews and operational efficiency assessments.
- Provide oversight of stock reporting, inventory valuation and transport and logistics cost allocations.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal control requirements.
- Lead and mentor a small team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Champion finance transformation initiatives including automation, system enhancements and process improvements.
- Support and lead strategic projects such as new site integrations, supply chain changes and customer growth initiatives.
Candidate Profile
You are a CA or CPA qualified finance professional with a minimum of five years’ experience in a commercial finance or business partnering environment. Your background in FMCG, logistics or a similarly complex, high-volume industry has equipped you with the commercial acumen and analytical depth to hit the ground running in this role.
You are a confident communicator who knows how to engage and influence senior stakeholders, translating financial complexity into clear business language. Your modelling skills, meticulous attention to detail and continuous improvement mindset set you apart. Above all, you thrive in a fast-paced environment where your work has real, visible impact on the business. Experience with Oracle will be highly regarded.
