Role Overview
Reporting into the Finance leadership team, this Commercial Finance Manager position supports the sales finance function across Australia and acts as a key business partner to a large sales team. The role is responsible for monthly forecasting, trade spend management, customer profitability analysis and delivering insights that support strategic decision-making. You will play a key role in balancing commercial growth objectives with financial performance.
The role operates within a fast-paced FMCG environment where accurate forecasting, strong commercial acumen and data-driven insights are critical. You will partner closely with Sales and Supply Chain teams to identify opportunities, manage risks and support initiatives such as price increase negotiations, trade spend ROI analysis and joint business planning activities. This position provides broad exposure across customer performance, brand profitability and commercial strategy.
Responsibilities
• Business partner with Sales teams across major retail customers
• Manage monthly rolling forecasts across gross sales, trade spend and customer profitability
• Deliver month-end reporting and performance analysis across customers and brands
• Generate actionable insights to support commercial decision-making and growth initiatives
• Support trade spend management, controls and return on investment analysis
• Provide analysis and recommendations to support pricing and CPI negotiations with key customers
• Maintain balance sheet integrity, including revenue recognition and claims management
• Work with large and complex data sets to identify trends, risks and performance opportunities
• Provide ad hoc commercial analysis to support strategic business decisions
Candidate Profile
You are an agile, commercially minded finance professional with experience operating within a consumer goods, FMCG or retail-focused environment. You have a strong analytical mindset and enjoy turning large volumes of data into meaningful business insights that influence decision-making. Experience supporting sales teams, managing trade spend, forecasting revenue and working closely with major retail customers will be highly regarded.
You possess advanced Excel skills and are comfortable working with large and complex data sets. Exposure to Power BI and complex ERP systems will be advantageous, however your ability to analyse information, challenge assumptions and communicate commercial insights effectively is what will set you apart. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy partnering with stakeholders to drive business performance.
