Role Overview

Reporting into the Finance leadership team, this Senior Financial Accountant will be responsible for supporting statutory reporting, coordinating external audit requirements, and providing technical accounting expertise across the business. You will prepare financial statements, manage audit deliverables, and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards.

This role offers the opportunity to work on complex accounting matters, including revenue recognition, financial instruments, acquisitions, intercompany transactions, and accounting policy development. You will collaborate with multiple stakeholders across finance and the broader business to improve processes, strengthen controls, and support accurate financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare statutory financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards
• Coordinate and support the external audit process across multiple entities
• Liaise with auditors and provide timely responses to audit requests
• Prepare technical accounting papers for complex and non-routine transactions
• Assist with month-end and shareholder reporting requirements
• Support consolidation reporting and financial reporting processes
• Develop and document accounting policies and procedures
• Review and improve financial controls and governance frameworks
• Analyse complex accounting issues and provide recommendations
• Partner with stakeholders across finance and operations to drive reporting excellence
• Support process improvement initiatives within the finance function
• Assist with ad-hoc projects arising from business growth and acquisitions

Candidate Profile

You are a technically strong accounting professional with substantial experience in statutory reporting, audit, and financial accounting. Ideally, you will have commenced your career within a Big 4 or mid-tier audit environment before moving into industry. Your strong understanding of accounting standards and financial reporting requirements allows you to confidently navigate complex technical issues.

You are CA or CPA qualified and possess exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Experience working with large ERP systems, particularly SAP, will be highly regarded. Exposure to infrastructure, energy, utilities, or other asset-intensive industries is advantageous but not essential.
