Role Highlights

Fantastic short-term opportunity for a technically strong Financial Accountant to join a well-established infrastructure organisation operating within a complex and highly regulated environment. Working closely with the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining financial integrity, supporting month-end reporting processes, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the end-to-end financial accounting function, ensuring the timely and accurate completion of month-end activities, balance sheet reconciliations, fixed asset accounting, and financial reporting requirements. You will work closely with stakeholders across finance, procurement, and operational teams to maintain strong financial controls and governance processes.

This role will allow you to make a meaningful contribution to the organisation's financial performance by providing accurate accounting support, maintaining compliance with internal policies and external reporting obligations, and assisting with process enhancements. The successful candidate will gain exposure to a large and complex operating environment with significant opportunities for professional development.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post month-end journals and accounting adjustments
• Assist with the preparation of monthly financial reports and management reporting packs
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate reconciling items
• Reconcile bank accounts and ensure timely resolution of discrepancies
• Support month-end accruals, prepayments, and accounting estimates processes
• Maintain the fixed asset register, including capitalisations, disposals, depreciation, and amortisation calculations
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal financial controls
• Perform reconciliations between sub-ledgers and the general ledger
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable accounting activities as required
• Support external and internal audit processes by providing accurate documentation and analysis
• Identify and implement process improvement initiatives across finance operations
• Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers

Candidate Profile

You are a detail-oriented and technically capable Financial Accountant who enjoys working within a structured and process-driven environment. You possess strong financial accounting fundamentals and are comfortable managing competing priorities within a busy month-end reporting cycle. Ideally, you hold a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline and are CA or CPA qualified (or working towards qualification).

You have previous experience within a medium-to-large organisation and bring strong reconciliation, reporting, and financial control experience. Exposure to fixed assets accounting, month-end processes, and ERP systems will be highly regarded. Your ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders, combined with a proactive and solutions-focused approach, will ensure your success in this role.
