Job Description

Location: Parramatta, NSW
Salary Package: $180k + Super + Bonus
Role Highlights: The number one tax role in APAC. Own direct and indirect tax across four jurisdictions, partner directly with regional leadership and the global Headquarters tax team, and present to the Audit & Risk Committee and Board. Mix of compliance and commercial tax strategy.

Role Overview

Reporting to the APAC Financial Controller, you are the primary tax leader for the region. You will oversee all corporate income tax, indirect tax, withholding tax, fringe benefits tax and statutory filings across Australia, New Zealand and parts of the broader APAC, ensuring timely and accurate preparation and review in coordination with local finance teams, external advisors and US Headquarters. You will support HQ with US GAAP local entity provisions, effective tax rate calculations and jurisdictional tax forecasts, and monitor changes in local tax legislation to assess the operational impact on the business. Day to day, you will manage resourcing, workload allocation and quality review across the regional tax team.
Beyond compliance, this is an advisory seat. You will evaluate the tax implications of new business initiatives, acquisitions, restructures, entity rationalisations and cross-border transactions, identify tax efficiency opportunities within global policy, and advise APAC business leaders directly on tax risk and mitigation as a trusted partner to the leadership team. You will own the regional internal tax control framework, support ERP tax configuration and automation initiatives, and prepare and present Tax Audit & Risk Committee materials and Board papers to internal governance committees.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee corporate income tax, indirect tax, withholding tax, fringe benefits tax and other statutory filings across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Indonesia.
  • Ensure timely and accurate tax return preparation and review in coordination with local finance teams, external advisors and US Headquarters.
  • Support HQ with preparation of US GAAP local entity provision templates, effective tax rate calculations and jurisdictional tax forecasts.
  • Monitor changes in local tax legislation, assess operational business impact and brief APAC leadership and HQ on required responses and action plans.
  • Manage resourcing, workload allocation and quality review across the regional tax team.
  • Support and review intercompany transaction documentation across APAC entities, ensuring alignment with global transfer pricing frameworks.
  • Coordinate local transfer pricing filing and documentation compliance, and support HQ intercompany pricing models.
  • Evaluate the tax implications of new business initiatives, acquisitions, restructures, entity rationalisations and cross-border transactions.
  • Coordinate local tax audits and address notices and enquiries with tax authorities alongside regional finance, HQ and external advisors.
  • Support treasury activity including external borrowing coordination with bank partners, derivative support and deferred tax implications.
  • Maintain the regional internal tax control framework, including periodic effectiveness review, and embed tax controls within financial processes.
  • Support ERP tax configuration and tax automation initiatives for the region.
  • Prepare and present Tax Audit & Risk Committee materials and Board papers, and act as primary tax contact for APAC leadership, the Financial Controller and the US tax team.

Candidate Profile

You are CA or CPA qualified with 7-10+ years progressive experience in tax, including prior experience at Tax Manager level. You have managed tax matters across multiple jurisdictions, run external advisors, tax audits and stakeholder relationships, and presented to an Audit Committee, Board or equivalent senior forum. Exposure to US GAAP tax reporting and US corporate tax requirements is essential. You balance genuine accuracy and attention to detail with strategic, big picture judgement, manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment without dropping quality, and build relationships and influence well beyond the finance function. Advanced Excel and tax reporting tools, experience leading tax input into M&A, restructures or entity rationalisations, and exposure to ERP tax configuration or tax automation initiatives will all set you apart.

Culture & Benefits

This is a complex, multi-site multinational industrial services organisation with a substantial APAC footprint and US parent reporting. Finance sits close to the operation rather than removed from it, the regional leadership team is accessible, and the relationship with US Headquarters is a genuine working partnership rather than a reporting line. The scope of this role means your work lands in front of decision-makers regularly.

  • Own it - sole responsibility for the APAC tax function across four jurisdictions
  • Be rewarded - $180k + Super + Bonus
  • Step up - direct exposure to APAC executive, US Headquarters and Board-level governance forums
