Job Description
Location: New Zealand – Auckland preferred; other NZ locations considered
Salary Package: NZD $160,000–$180,000
Role Highlights: Own the strategy behind D365 CE engagements, with executive access, real delivery influence and room to develop practical AI offerings.
Role Overview
Your brief is to take an early customer idea and turn it into an investment decision that can withstand delivery scrutiny. In this senior pre-sales position, you will determine how Dynamics 365 CE and Power Platform can address business priorities, set an achievable direction and take responsibility for the proposition before implementation begins.
You will work alongside account managers from the first customer conversation and bring architects, consultants and delivery leads into the picture as options emerge. Through executive discussions, discovery sessions and tailored demonstrations, you will help customers understand choices, trade-offs and expected value. Rather than running day-to-day implementation, you will draw on your own delivery experience to establish scope, assumptions, estimates and the approach a project team can commit to.
The opportunity extends beyond individual pursuits. You will help build more consistent ways of shaping CE work, contribute to solutions that bring together wider Microsoft capability, and examine where Copilot and automation can produce tangible improvements. Success will be visible in the quality of the work commissioned and the results customers can achieve, not simply in the volume of deals signed.
Responsibilities
- Lead customer discovery to establish the operational problem, intended result and decision criteria.
- Turn early-stage ambitions into phased CE transformation options and clear investment choices.
- Build business cases and demonstrations that connect platform capability with practical customer benefits.
- Determine which requirements belong in D365 CE, Power Platform or adjacent Microsoft services.
- Partner with solution architects and delivery leads to test integration needs, scale, risks and effort.
- Set scope boundaries, resource assumptions and estimates before commercial commitments are made.
- Prepare concise proposals, tender responses and Statements of Work that support informed approval.
- Advise account teams on value, pricing considerations and pursuit trade-offs.
- Guide the transition into delivery with agreed outcomes, dependencies and decision records.
- Develop reusable approaches and explore viable uses of AI, Copilot and automation.
Candidate Profile
You have delivered substantial D365 CE solutions yourself and retain enough current platform knowledge to challenge a design, recognise product boundaries and anticipate implementation complexity. Power Platform experience is also important. You can connect business processes to workable solution choices, assess integration and scale implications, and identify the specialist input needed before a proposal is finalised. Your background may include consulting, solution architecture or a delivery role that has developed into pre-sales ownership.
Executive audiences trust your presentations because you explain options through outcomes, costs and constraints rather than product features alone. You can lead a useful discovery session, write a clear business case and negotiate scope with an account manager without compromising the delivery team. You have personally taken complex opportunities through qualification, commercial definition and a structured transition to implementation, rather than simply contributing technical content to somebody else’s bid.
You are independently minded but consult colleagues early, raise uncomfortable trade-offs when required and take responsibility for the promises made to a customer. Experience applying Copilot, Copilot Studio or agentic AI in real work would be advantageous, as would shaping opportunities spanning more than one Microsoft business applications practice. Neither is a prerequisite.
Company, Culture & Benefits
You will join an established, multi-location Microsoft practice where specialists across CE, architecture, consulting and adjacent disciplines contribute to customer solutions. The working style values people who own their decisions, share expertise and speak plainly about delivery risks. The organisation supports professional development through regular conversations with team leads and exposure to different customer work.
- Relocation and sponsorship considered for exceptional candidates
- Exposure to specialists across Microsoft business applications, architecture and AI.
- Exposure to customer engagements and colleagues across a broad Microsoft technology practice.
