Role Highlights:
Exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced and growing organisation in a critical inventory accounting role supporting finance and operational teams across the business. This role offers strong stakeholder exposure, involvement in process improvement initiatives, and the opportunity to work within a sophisticated SAP S/4HANA environment. Ideal for an analytically strong accountant who thrives within large product or supply chain-driven organisations.

Role Overview

Reporting into senior finance leadership, this role will take ownership of inventory accounting, reconciliations, variance analysis, and costing activities across a complex operational environment. On a monthly and quarterly basis, you will manage inventory reconciliations between the general ledger and sub-ledgers, investigate discrepancies, support month-end close processes, and prepare inventory-related journals and reporting. You will also partner closely with supply chain, procurement, and operations teams to ensure inventory accuracy and data integrity across the business.

This position will play a key role in improving inventory controls, analysing production and costing variances, and enhancing financial processes within the wider finance function. You will contribute to cycle count programs, audit requirements, dashboard reporting, and ongoing process improvement initiatives while providing meaningful commercial insights to operational stakeholders. The role offers broad exposure across finance and operations and would suit someone who enjoys working in a highly collaborative and fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly and quarterly inventory reconciliations across the general ledger and inventory sub-ledgers
• Investigate inventory discrepancies, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
• Analyse standard costing, BOMs, production orders, and manufacturing variances
• Monitor inventory valuation and ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies
• Support cycle count programs and partner with operations teams to resolve stock discrepancies
• Prepare inventory journals, accruals, reserve adjustments, and month-end close activities
• Develop inventory reporting, KPI dashboards, and variance analysis for management reporting purposes
• Drive process improvement initiatives across inventory controls, systems, and reporting processes
• Assist with internal and external audit requirements relating to inventory and costing
• Collaborate cross-functionally with procurement, operations, warehouse, and supply chain stakeholders

Candidate Profile

You are a technically strong and detail-oriented accounting professional with proven experience within inventory accounting, cost accounting, or manufacturing finance environments. You possess strong analytical capabilities and are comfortable working with large data sets to identify trends, variances, and operational insights. Ideally, you have prior experience working within large product-based, manufacturing, FMCG, retail, or supply chain-driven organisations where inventory forms a critical part of the business operations.

You will have strong ERP exposure, ideally within SAP S/4HANA, along with advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, Power Query, and financial modelling. You are an effective communicator who can confidently engage with both finance and non-finance stakeholders and have a proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and accuracy.

Company, Culture & Benefits

This organisation is a well-established market leader operating within a large-scale product and supply chain environment. The business promotes collaboration, continuous improvement, and operational excellence while offering employees strong career development opportunities and exposure to complex commercial operations. You will join a high-performing finance team that values initiative, accountability, and innovation.

• Join a large-scale business with sophisticated systems and processes
• Strong career progression opportunities within a growing finance function
• High-impact role partnering closely with operations and supply chain leaders
