Role Overview:
Reporting to the Payroll Manager, this Senior Payroll Officer position will be responsible for the end-to-end processing of payroll for a large and diverse workforce. You will ensure payroll accuracy, compliance with relevant awards and legislation, and provide expert support to employees and stakeholders across the organisation. On a day-to-day basis, you will manage payroll transactions, interpret awards and enterprise agreements, reconcile payroll data, process payroll adjustments, and respond to payroll-related enquiries. You will also support month-end reporting, assist with payroll compliance activities, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the payroll function.
This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced payroll professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can confidently step into an established team with minimal supervision. This is an initial 3-month temporary assignment to provide cover for an unexpected leave period, with potential for extension depending on business requirements.

Responsibilities

End-to-end processing of weekly, fortnightly, and/or monthly payroll
Ensure payroll is processed accurately and in accordance with relevant awards, EBAs, and Fair Work legislation
Manage payroll adjustments including leave, overtime, allowances, terminations, and back pays
Reconcile payroll reports and investigate discrepancies
Maintain employee payroll records and ensure data integrity
Respond to payroll-related queries from employees and stakeholders
Process superannuation, payroll tax, and statutory obligations
Support month-end reporting and payroll compliance activities
Assist with payroll system improvements and process optimisation
Ensure confidentiality and compliance with organisational policies and procedures
Candidate Profile
You are an experienced Senior Payroll Officer with a strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation and award interpretation, ideally gained within a healthcare, aged care, hospital, or not-for-profit environment. MUST have experience using HUMANFORCE. 

You bring proven experience managing end-to-end payroll for a medium to large workforce and are confident working with complex payroll structures. Your attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and commitment to delivering accurate outcomes set you apart.

You will also possess:
Demonstrated end-to-end payroll experience within a complex organisation
Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, Fair Work requirements, and superannuation obligations
Experience interpreting awards, enterprise agreements, and employment conditions
Advanced Excel skills including VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and data reconciliation
Experience using payroll system Hummanforce
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to work autonomously and meet strict payroll deadlines
Healthcare, aged care, disability services, hospital, or broader not-for-profit sector experience will be highly regarded but is not essential.
