Role Highlights:
Excellent opportunity for an experienced Payroll Officer to secure a short-term contract with a well-established Australian business. Supporting a busy payroll function during a key transition period, you will step into a hands-on role focused on end-to-end payroll processing, employee administration and payroll support. This position offers an immediate start and the opportunity to contribute from day one within a collaborative and supportive team environment.

Role Overview

Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, this role will provide critical support to the payroll function while the organisation recruits a permanent team member. Working across weekly and monthly payroll cycles, you will be responsible for processing payroll, validating timesheets, managing employee payroll records and ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time.

This is a true BAU payroll role with a strong focus on payroll processing and employee support. You will work closely with Finance, People & Culture and operational stakeholders to maintain payroll accuracy, resolve payroll-related queries and ensure payroll operations continue to run smoothly within a high-volume environment.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly and monthly payrolls across multiple employee groups
• Review and validate timesheets, attendance records and leave applications
• Calculate wages, overtime, penalty rates, shift allowances and payroll deductions
• Prepare payroll data for approval and processing within designated timeframes
• Process new starters, employee changes and terminations
• Maintain accurate employee payroll records and payroll system data
• Manage annual leave, personal leave and long service leave records
• Process payroll adjustments, corrections and back-pay calculations as required
• Perform payroll reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
• Assist with month-end payroll activities and payroll reporting requirements
• Respond to payroll-related enquiries from employees and managers
• Support payroll compliance with relevant awards, agreements and company policies

Candidate Profile

You are an experienced Payroll Officer with a proven background in high-volume payroll processing. You are comfortable working autonomously, possess exceptional attention to detail and can confidently manage competing priorities within a deadline-driven environment. Your ability to quickly learn new systems and adapt to established processes allows you to add value from day one.

Ideally, you have experience processing payroll for medium-to-large organisations with complex pay structures, including overtime, shift loadings, allowances and leave entitlements. Experience with MYOB PayGlobal, PayCat or similar payroll systems will be highly regarded, however it is not essential. Most importantly, you will bring strong end-to-end payroll knowledge, excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Company, Culture & Benefits

This opportunity sits within a successful and well-established Australian manufacturing business known for its collaborative culture and commitment to operational excellence. The payroll function is supported by an experienced leadership team and established payroll processes, creating an environment where an experienced contractor can quickly integrate and make a meaningful contribution.

• Immediate start with a 4-6 week temporary assignment
• Competitive rate of $45ph - $50ph + Super
