Role Overview

This Commercial Analyst will provide flexible commercial finance support across the business, partnering with multiple category and functional leaders. You will own recurring reporting and performance tracking across forecasting, innovation, pricing elasticity and promotional activity, but your role will go well beyond producing the numbers. You will gain an understanding of what is driving performance, identify opportunities and risks and bring meaningful insights back to the business.

With approximately 30% of your role focused on rhythmic reporting and 70% on ad hoc commercial analysis and projects, you will gain exposure across a broad range of initiatives. From building innovation business cases and assessing marketing investment to challenging forecast assumptions and analysing promotional ROI, you will work closely with Sales, Marketing, Demand Planning and FP&A to help shape stronger commercial decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Own recurring commercial reporting and performance tracking across key business areas
  • Track innovation performance and provide insights into commercial outcomes
  • Analyse pricing elasticity and support pricing-related decision making
  • Review promotional performance and translate results into actionable commercial insights
  • Support budgeting, forecasting and longer-term financial planning activities
  • Partner with Sales, Demand Planning and FP&A to understand and challenge forecast assumptions
  • Support Category and Finance Managers across a variety of commercial projects and business cases
  • Build financial analysis for new product and innovation opportunities
  • Partner with Marketing on advertising and promotional investment proposals, assessing ROI and commercial viability
  • Analyse customer, category and channel performance to identify risks and opportunities
  • Work with large data sets and financial systems to improve the quality and efficiency of analysis
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting, analytical tools and data-driven decision making

Candidate Profile

You are a curious and commercially minded analyst who naturally asks the next question rather than simply accepting the numbers in front of you. With 2-3 years of experience across commercial finance, FP&A or business analysis, ideally within FMCG, retail or another complex environment, you have strong analytical capability and enjoy turning data into meaningful insights. You are degree qualified in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline, with CA, CPA or CIMA studies viewed favourably.

You are proactive, coachable and comfortable operating in an environment where priorities can change quickly. You enjoy balancing multiple projects, working with different stakeholders and stepping into unfamiliar areas to solve problems. Strong Excel capability and confidence navigating financial systems and analytical tools are important, as is an interest in embracing new technology and finding better ways of working. Most importantly, you bring curiosity, energy and the confidence to challenge assumptions while building positive relationships across the business.
