Role Overview:  Reporting to the Group Internal Audit Manager, this role will see you lead internal audit activities in alignment with ASC’s strategic goals. This role requires a high degree of autonomy and technical proficiency to manage complex audit programs, enhance risk management, and provide valuable insights to senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Audit Leadership: Lead and execute internal audits and fraud investigations.
  • Risk Management: Ensure thorough coverage and effective risk management in audits.
  • Audit Planning: Assist in creating and updating the risk-based Internal Audit Universe and Audit Plan.
  • Recommendations Management: Manage and oversee the implementation of audit recommendations.
  • Business Improvement: Address and track business improvement requests.
  • Knowledge Improvement: Keep updated on internal audit practices and contribute to the annual audit charter review.
  • Stakeholder Support: Represent the Group Internal Audit function in senior forums.
  • Audit Committee Representation: Engage with the Audit Committee and other senior stakeholders.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with executive-level stakeholders to ensure alignment and effectiveness.
  • Continuous Learning: Pursue ongoing professional development and stay informed on industry trends.

Candidate Profile:

As an ideal candidate for this role, you should possess a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field (master’s preferred), with membership or eligibility for the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and NV1 security clearance. You must have at least 7 years of experience in senior auditing roles within complex organisations, demonstrating expertise in the IIA International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF). Key skills include leading audit teams, setting risk-based audit programs, mentoring, and working with Committees and Boards.

Essential behavioural capabilities include strong stakeholder management, compliance and governance knowledge, risk management expertise, change management, and ethical leadership. Experience in the defence industry is highly regarded.

You will also be required to obtain a security clearance and therefore are required to be an Australian Citizen.
