The Opportunity: An established and growing organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to oversee and deliver accurate, timely payroll services across a diverse workforce. Role Overview
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will manage the end-to-end payroll function, ensuring compliance with legislation, internal policies, and industry standards. You’ll work closely with HR and other stakeholders to support business operations and continuous improvement, and you’ll act as a key point of contact for payroll-related queries.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver accurate and timely end-to-end payroll processing for weekly, fortnightly, and monthly cycles
• Interpret and apply relevant awards, EBAs, and legislation
• Manage superannuation, PAYG, payroll tax, and other statutory obligations
• Maintain employee records and ensure data integrity across systems
• Support reporting for finance, audit, and management purposes
• Lead process improvements and support system upgrades or transitions
• Provide guidance and support to junior payroll staff
Candidate Profile
You are an experienced and detail-focused payroll professional with a solid understanding of Australian payroll legislation and modern awards. Your strong analytical skills, discretion, and ability to meet deadlines make you a reliable team member in fast-paced environments. Experience with large payroll systems (e.g., Chris21, MicrOpay, ADP, or similar) will be highly regarded.
