Role Highlights: High-profile opportunity to join a dynamic retail horticulture business in a pivotal national account role. Reporting to the Managing Director / Head of Sales, you will have direct impact on revenue, margin, and distribution across major accounts while contributing to strategic business growth.

Role Overview

The National Account Manager will take full ownership of key national retail and discount outlets, covering major retailers such as Big W, Reject Shop, Target, as well as a wider network of discount and independent stores. You will develop and execute tailored account plans, lead joint business and promotional planning, and ensure effective ranging, pricing, and promotional programs to drive growth.

This role offers the opportunity to influence both strategic and operational outcomes. You will build and nurture strong, long-term relationships with buyers and key decision-makers, act as the voice of the customer internally, and contribute to category expansion, new product launches, and shelf optimisation. By combining commercial acumen with hands-on execution, you will play a pivotal role in the company’s growth and transformation.

 

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage relationships with key national accounts and discount outlets, including major retailers such as Big W, Reject Shop, Target as well as a wider network of independent and emerging stores.
  • Develop and execute tailored account plans to achieve sales, margin, and market share growth
  • Lead annual joint business planning (JBP), promotional planning, and forecasting with accounts
  • Negotiate trading terms, promotional programs, and contracts with national retailers
  • Identify opportunities for category expansion, new product introduction, and shelf optimisation
  • Analyse market and sales data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Collaborate with marketing to execute brand strategies at point of sale (POS)
  • Deliver accurate forecasting, budgeting, and reporting on account performance
  • Track sales KPIs and deliver against targets for revenue, profit, and distribution
  • Provide post-promotional analysis and ROI reviews to continuously improve performance

 

Candidate Profile

You are a commercially minded and highly motivated sales professional, eager to take ownership of national retail accounts and drive profitable growth. Ideally, you come from FMCG, consumer goods, or health and wellbeing categories and have experience managing large-format retail accounts. You possess strong negotiation, analytical, and account management skills, with a proven track record of executing sales strategies, promotional plans, and joint business planning.

With excellent communication and relationship-building abilities, you can influence key stakeholders internally and externally, while balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution. You thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and are proactive, self-motivated, and results-driven.
