Role Overview
The Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing operational activities across multiple sites, ensuring business performance targets are met without compromising safety, environmental standards, quality requirements, or customer expectations.
This role will provide strong on-site leadership, working closely with operational teams and leadership to ensure that production schedules, compliance obligations, and operational performance are managed effectively. The position will play a key role in transitioning operations from a reactive environment to a proactive, data-driven approach to planning, scheduling, and resource management.
On a daily basis, the Operations Manager will oversee site activities, support supervisors and operational teams, monitor production and safety performance, and address operational issues as they arise.
On a weekly basis, the role will focus on reviewing operational targets, analysing performance data, planning resource allocation, and collaborating with leadership to drive operational improvements.
On an ongoing basis, the Operations Manager will ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory frameworks while building strong relationships with internal teams, contractors, suppliers, and customers.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage day-to-day operational activities across multiple sites to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Establish and monitor operational targets in collaboration with senior leadership.
- Promote and actively demonstrate a strong safety culture, ensuring adherence to health, safety, environmental, and quality systems.
- Identify operational risks and opportunities, implementing strategies to mitigate risks and improve performance.
- Oversee compliance with regulatory, statutory, and environmental requirements.
- Lead internal and external audit processes relating to safety, environmental, and quality systems.
- Develop and implement operational improvement and cost-efficiency initiatives.
- Monitor operational KPIs and team performance, providing leadership, feedback, and development opportunities for staff.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers, service providers, contractors, and customers.
- Accurate reporting and ensure compliance with organisational policies, systems, and administrative processes.
Candidate Profile
You are an experienced operations leader with a strong background in industrial, construction, waste management, or related operational environments. You bring a pragmatic leadership style and are comfortable managing complex operational activities while maintaining a strong focus on safety, compliance, and performance.
You are confident leading teams in fast-moving operational environments and have the ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on leadership. Your communication skills allow you to engage effectively with people at all levels, from operational staff through to senior leadership.
You are organised, accountable, and able to make informed decisions using operational data, while maintaining a strong commitment to continuous improvement and environmental responsibility.
