Job Description

Location: Western Sydney, NSW

Salary Package: $480 per day + Super

Role Highlights:
Immediate opportunity for a technically strong Commercial Analyst to join a high-performing supply chain finance function. This is a hands-on role where your ability to analyse data, understand cost drivers and quickly identify commercial opportunities will have an immediate impact.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, this role will provide critical financial support across a large manufacturing operation. You will take ownership of weekly performance reporting, analyse P&L movements and investigate the key drivers behind manufacturing and operational costs. A significant part of the role will involve working with large datasets and turning financial information into meaningful insights.

You will also have exposure across inventory, raw materials, fixed overheads and waste, helping the operational team understand where performance is tracking and where action may be required. The successful candidate will be someone who can quickly learn the business, navigate internal systems and independently take ownership of analysis from day one.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyse weekly P&L reporting for the manufacturing operation
  • Investigate financial movements and identify key cost and performance drivers
  • Analyse fixed overheads and manufacturing expenditure across the operation
  • Monitor raw material expenditure and inventory movements
  • Produce recurring inventory analysis and reporting
  • Support waste and cost tracking initiatives, with a particular focus on fixed costs
  • Extract, manipulate and consolidate data from multiple internal systems
  • Analyse performance across multiple production lines and identify trends, variances and opportunities
  • Translate financial and operational data into practical recommendations for the business
  • Provide commercial finance and management accounting support across the supply chain function
  • Work closely with operational teams to understand performance and underlying business drivers
  • Quickly establish ownership of key reporting and analysis processes, ensuring a smooth handover within the initial assignment

Candidate Profile

You will be a technically strong finance professional with a background in commercial finance, management accounting or commercial analysis. Advanced Excel capability is essential, along with the confidence to work with large datasets, manipulate information and investigate what is really driving the numbers. You will be comfortable working directly in the detail rather than relying on others to produce the analysis.

Manufacturing, FMCG, supply chain or another operationally complex environment would be highly advantageous. You will have a strong understanding of P&L reporting, cost analysis, inventory and operational performance, with the ability to quickly understand new systems and processes. Most importantly, you will be practical, analytical and hands-on, with the ability to move from numbers to clear commercial actions without unnecessary complexity.

Company, Culture & Benefits

This is an established FMCG manufacturing environment with a significant operational and supply chain footprint. The finance team works closely with manufacturing and operational functions, providing exposure to the commercial drivers behind a complex production environment. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced analyst or management accountant who enjoys getting into the detail and seeing the direct impact of their work.

  • Make an impact – step into a role where your analysis will directly influence operational decision-making
  • Build commercial exposure – gain hands-on experience across manufacturing, inventory, costs and supply chain
  • Potential beyond the contract – initial 2–3 month assignment with the possibility of a longer-term opportunity for the right person
