Job Description

Location: Bella Vista

Salary Package: $140,000 + Super

Role Highlights:

This is a career-defining opportunity for a technically strong accountant looking to move beyond a traditional Financial Accountant position. Joining a high-performing Group Finance team, you'll gain exposure to acquisitions, finance transformation initiatives, technical accounting matters and strategic business projects. The position has been created to support the organisation through a significant growth phase, providing the successful candidate with broad exposure across corporate finance, compliance and business integration activities.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, this role will play a critical part in supporting technical accounting, tax, audit and statutory compliance activities across a complex multi-entity group structure. You'll be responsible for researching accounting treatments, preparing technical accounting papers, supporting year-end audit requirements, assisting with tax matters and contributing to financial reporting and process improvement initiatives.

Beyond BAU responsibilities, the role offers exposure to acquisition activity, integration projects and finance transformation programs as the business continues its growth journey. This person will become a key member of the Group Finance function, providing technical expertise, improving internal capability and helping reduce reliance on external advisors. It is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex accounting issues and wants to continue learning and developing their career.

Responsibilities

• Prepare technical accounting papers and research complex accounting treatments under AASB standards
• Assist with year-end statutory audits and coordinate auditor requests
• Support company tax returns, tax reconciliations and compliance obligations
• Review and maintain balance sheet reconciliations and month-end processes
• Assist with acquisition integration activities and finance transformation projects
• Support purchase accounting, due diligence and M&A-related projects where required
• Build and maintain financial models, forecasts and scenario analysis tools
• Partner with stakeholders across finance and operational teams
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls and reporting efficiency
• Contribute to working capital, cost optimisation and corporate improvement initiatives
• Support payroll-related financial reporting activities
• Assist the broader Group Finance team across reporting, compliance and strategic projects

Candidate Profile

You are a CA or CPA qualified finance professional with strong technical accounting capability and a genuine interest in complex business environments. Ideally, you have developed your foundation within a Chartered or Big 4 environment before moving into industry, where you've gained exposure to audit, statutory reporting, tax and technical accounting matters. You enjoy researching accounting issues, preparing technical papers and working through challenging business scenarios.

Equally important is your mindset. This role suits someone curious, commercially minded and eager to keep learning. The successful candidate will be comfortable operating in ambiguity, taking ownership of projects and rolling up their sleeves when needed. Exposure to acquisitions, integration projects or finance transformation initiatives will be highly regarded, although a strong technical accounting background remains the priority.

Company, Culture & Benefits

This well-established Australian group operates across multiple businesses and is entering a significant growth phase supported by an active acquisition strategy. The finance team is highly collaborative, commercially focused and committed to continuous improvement. With exposure to senior leadership, strategic projects and future acquisition activity, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to accelerate their development well beyond a traditional accounting role.

• Gain hands-on exposure to acquisitions, integration and finance transformation projects
• Work directly with experienced finance leaders and broaden your technical expertise
• Strong opportunity for contract extension and long-term career progression
