Role Overview
Reporting into the Finance Manager, this is an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Accountant looking to step up into their first Financial Accountant role. You will be responsible for the end-to-end financial accounting and management reporting across multiple entities in 2 different segments. On a monthly basis, you will prepare month-end reconciliations, working papers, BAS returns, and management reports with variance analysis. On a weekly basis, you will liaise with project teams and internal stakeholders to support operational and financial decision-making. You will also process invoices, review credit card transactions, and provide accurate financial information to support ongoing business operations.

This role provides the opportunity to contribute to commercial projects. You will assist in budgeting, forecasting, and ad-hoc reporting, providing business and financial advice to stakeholders while building expertise in multi-entity finance. The role also offers exposure to process improvement initiatives, system upgrades, and professional development opportunities, positioning you for future growth within the finance team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end financial accounting for multiple entities, including AP, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close.
  • Prepare working papers, BAS returns, and management reports with variance analysis on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Process mid-month and end-of-month payment runs, including invoice approvals and credit card transaction reviews.
  • Support the annual and interim group audit processes, including preparing technical accounting papers.
  • Assist with forecasting, budgeting, and ad-hoc financial reporting for different segments.
  • Liaison with internal and external stakeholders, providing business and financial advice to support decision-making.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives and system upgrades, including AP automation and enhanced reporting workflows.
  • Maintain a high standard of accuracy and efficiency while managing competing priorities and deadlines across multiple entities.

 

Candidate Profile
You are highly energetic and resilient, eager to take ownership of end-to-end accounting across multiple property and infrastructure entities. You are Business or Accounting degree qualified and have experience managing financial processes such as AP, reconciliations, month-end close, BAS preparation, and management reporting. Ideally, you have exposure to a complex, multi-entity organisation and are comfortable working across competing priorities and deadlines. With exceptional communication skills, you build strong relationships and provide clear financial insights to both technical and non-financial stakeholders. A passion for continuous improvement, process enhancement, and professional growth is at the core of who you are, ensuring you thrive in a fast-paced, high-performing finance team.
