Role Overview

Lead the day-to-day performance of a busy branch within an established building trade products business. You’ll lead and develop the team, drive sales and profitability, build strong customer relationships and ensure the branch operates safely, efficiently and professionally.

This is a hands-on leadership role with genuine ownership across people, customers and commercial performance. You’ll work closely with senior leadership and the broader business to identify growth opportunities, improve branch performance and build a strong, accountable team culture.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the branch team, creating a positive, accountable and high-performing culture through coaching, mentoring and clear performance expectations.
  • Own branch sales and profitability, driving revenue, margin, customer growth and overall commercial performance.
  • Build and strengthen customer relationships, identifying opportunities to grow existing accounts, win new business and increase local market share.
  • Manage branch operations, including inventory, stock availability, labour, expenses and service delivery to ensure the branch operates efficiently.
  • Drive customer service excellence, ensuring customers receive a professional, responsive and reliable experience across every interaction.
  • Monitor branch performance and KPIs, using financial and operational data to identify issues, improve performance and implement practical business improvements.
  • Lead safety, compliance and continuous improvement, maintaining a safe, organised workplace while challenging existing processes and finding better ways of working.

Candidate Profile

  • Previous experience as a Branch Manager, Branch Operations Manager, Trade Centre Manager or similar.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach and develop teams, creating accountability and strong performance.
  • Strong commercial understanding across sales, margin, profitability, expenses and inventory.
  • Demonstrated ability to build customer relationships, grow existing business and identify new opportunities.
  • Hands-on leader who is comfortable working closely with the team and getting involved in day-to-day operations.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to work with customers, teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Experience within building products, trade, hardware, industrial or distribution environments will be highly regarded.
